A burgundy red wine with a long-lasting, spicy taste, full body and smooth tannins. Ideally served at a temperature of 16 to 18°C. The former Cistercian monastery in Eberbach has been producing red wine since its foundation. The monks who established it in the twelfth century are thought to have cultivated the challenging Pinot Noir vines in the Rheingau region, after having brought them from their homeland in Burgundy.  Historical sources reveal that red wine has been produced at the monastery in Eberbach since the thirteenth century.
