This table lamp stands out thanks to its unusual design and is versatile enough to be used in any room. The body of the table lamp is made from an original hydraulic level sensor from the Lockheed Super Star. If the hydraulic level dropped, the float would rise, indicating the low level within the tank. In the 1960 s, these sensors were fitted with thick metal housing and simple mechanics to ensure they could withstand changes in pressure, vibrations in the aircraft and fluctuating temperatures. A particularly pleasing detail is the quiet clinking sound you can hear if you shake the sensor - an indication of the float mechanism that sits freely on the rod, ensuring that it remains stable and unaffected by any vibrations.

A milestone in Lufthansa history

The original aircraft material comes from the Lockheed L-1649 A Super Star, a historic aircraft from Lufthansa's early fleet that set new benchmarks for comfort, range and design in the 1950 s. Between 1958 and 1965, Lufthansa operated the Lockheed Super Star on the first non-stop flights across the North Atlantic. After reaching the end of their service life, the Super Stars were given a new purpose as part of the Lufthansa Upcycling Collection - and to date, they're now the oldest upcycled materials used in the collection. Created with exceptional attention to detail, this highly limited and technically sophisticated collection is made for true aviation fans.
