Upcycling

From designer furniture made from decommissioned aircraft parts to handbags made from old life jackets, the upcycling of objects that would otherwise be scrapped is, in our opinion, a good way to pay tribute to the materials themselves and to extend the lifecycle of the individual components. In addition to our airlines’ Upcycling Collections, we therefore also stock upcycled products of other manufacturers. However, as stated above, only upcycled products made from at least 60% upcycled materials are labelled “More Sustainable” in the Worldshop.

* For every purchase of one or more products from the Lufthansa Upcycling Collection paid for using Mastercard, you support Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition reforestation projects and enable five trees to be planted. The campaign begins on 8 December and ends on 30 April 2026. Acting more responsibly – both online and in-store

We have a wide range and can offer you a large selection of products. Not all the products that you can order through worldshop.eu are packaged by and distributed from our own warehouse. Some of them are dispatched directly to you from the manufacturer or by their sales partners while others are sent to our warehouse in ready-to-ship packaging.

Click here to learn more about how we have optimised the packaging and dispatch logistics at our own warehouse:
Packaging for goods dispatched from our warehouse is individually cut to size using a Packsize®* machine, which ensures our parcels are compact and use as little material as possible. With the help of the Packsize® system, cardboard shipping boxes are made on an on-demand basis in the perfect size, which saves both packaging and padding materials. According to Packsize®, size-optimised packaging typically reduces box size by 40%, the use of padding material by 60% and corrugated cardboard by 26% compared with the corresponding figures for conventional, standardised packaging techniques.

More information on this can be found at: packsize.com/uk/sustainability
Assuming products are in stock and are not stored in ready-to-ship packaging, orders are combined in one package when they are dispatched from our own warehouse.
90% of packages that are dispatched from our warehouse to customers within Germany are sent using the GoGreen service of the Deutsche Post DHL Group. The use of GoGreen means that the greenhouse gases generated during shipping are calculated and balanced in accordance with international standards and offset through contributions to internationally recognised gold-standard climate protection projects.

When selecting a printer to produce our bi-annual Worldshop product catalogue, sustainability takes top priority. We currently work with a printing company whose ecological commitment goes far beyond the legal requirements.* From certified, sustainably-produced paper (FSC certification number: C011124) and eco-friendly printing inks** to energy-efficient printing and power generation at the publisher’s in-house combined heat and power plant, everything is done to ensure their production processes are as sustainable as possible.

*All the details of the company’s ecological commitment can be found at: mohnmedia.de/en/company/sustainability
**It is possible to completely remove the printing inks during the recycling process, which allows the paper to be fully recycled.
Our catalogue is dispatched nationwide within Germany with support from ClimatePartner.*
