Materials with aviation history, reimagined for everyday use. Since 2019, limited-edition furniture and accessories have been created in collaboration with Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and SWISS as well as European manufacturers, using aircraft skin, headrest covers and uniforms.
New: your very own piece of the A340-600
On 25 November 2003, the D-AIHB “Bremerhaven” was the first Airbus A340-600 to be delivered to Lufthansa. Today, its original materials are being transformed into design objects developed in collaboration with Tale Design Studio to showcase their distinctive properties. The aircraft’s history remains visible in every item, resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces with their own distinctive charm and practical value.

Upcycling that shines
The Danish design studio SMALLrevolution creates vases and versatile furniture from recycled GuideU emergency floor path lighting strips manufactured by Lufthansa Technik for aircraft cabins. The material absorbs light and emits a soft green glow in the dark.

Tell us about …
Three questions for Product Developer Melanie Striewski
How much of the Lockheed Super Star is there in the new products?
We drew on its distinctive lines, materials and details, but kept the designs deliberately understated. Many aircraft components were left unpainted and in their original, raw state. This allows the collection to retain the Super Star’s original green colouring and authentic character.
What was the biggest challenge in transforming the aircraft components?
Finding the right balance between respecting the aircraft’s history and creating something contemporary. Every component has its own history, and we wanted to honour it in the new designs through visible details and quality craftsmanship.
How deeply were you able to explore the history of the components?
The engineers working on the restoration gave us access to historical materials and valuable technical insights. Working closely with them helped us ensure that each component’s origins and original purpose remain recognisable in the finished products.

The history of the iconic Airbus A321
Discover the first unique items from the iconic SWISS Airbus 321 with the registration HB-IOC. “IOC” stands for International Olympic Committee, as the plane was emblazoned with the Olympic rings for a year. After 27 years of service, the HB-IOC landed for the last time in Zürich in 2022. What makes this handmade collection unique is its minimalist design and the practicality of its accessories, which can still be recognised as former aircraft components and bring the spirit of aviation into your home.
