Finca Monasterio is made exclusively from the grapes that grow in the vineyards of the 16-century monastery in Mendavia. Thanks to its sophisticated winegrowing tradition, this vineyard, laid out in 1985, already yields top-quality grapes. High trellises, radical cut-backs and manual defoliation result in enormously reduced yields. These factors, together with the Mediterranean climate, lead to excellent ripeness of fruit with optimal sugar and polyphenol content. Finca Monasterio boasts a deep, intense cherry-red colour with a crimson glow at the edge of the glass. It is incredibly seductive on the nose: black fruit compote, roasted aromas and vanilla cream, which unfold to spicy aromas. On the palate, this wine reveals a full flavour and volume reminiscent of its Mediterranean style. Rounded and silken tannins prepare for a lingering, balanced finish of fruit and gentle roasted aromas.
